History [edit]
Greenway High School started construction in 1920 and was completed in 1922. The school was named subsequently John Campbell Greenway, an American businessman and senior officeholder of the US Regular army Reserve. The new school had a pool, a cafeteria, hospital rooms, administrative rooms, and a motility picture machine room. The auditorium/gymnasium was on the ground floor, and a garage with space for upward to 8 buses and expanse for mechanical piece of work on the buses. The third flooring housed classrooms, the school library and was the location for the Itasca State Inferior College (later on moving location to the nearby town of Chiliad Rapids in 1966).
In the summertime of 1955, the elementary schoolhouse was demolished to make room for the new addition of the school that would include a gymnasium on the ground flooring, and a band and choir room in the sub-basement. This was completed in 1957. A new uncomplicated school was constructed across the street and would be connected by an surreptitious tunnel. The new elementary school housed grades Kindergaden-3rd grade and was named the VanDyke Elementary Schoolhouse (named later former Superintendent J.A VanDyke).
With the nearby middle school (Connor-Jasper Eye Schoolhouse) closing after the end 2011–2012 school yr, grades 5-8 were moved to the high school and grade iv to the unproblematic school. A new cafeteria was constructed (which could also be used every bit a gymnasium).

Athletics [edit]
Greenway High School sponsors Boys' and Girls' sports programs, referred to every bit the Greenway Raiders. During Land Tournaments for the various sports, Greenway High School, the school is referred to as Greenway of Coleraine. In contempo years due to depression enrollment, some programs, like boys' football, form teams with neighboring school district/south (Nashwauk-Keewatin Independent School Commune 319) with similar enrollment challenges. Both the boy'southward and girl's cross state and rails & field teams are also combined with Nashwauk-Keewatin Schoolhouse District. Another program, for example, that has formed a team with neighboring school commune/s (Grand Rapids Independent School District 318) is the daughter'due south hockey team. Often the mascot name is revised to reflect the dual nature of the schools participating - the boy'due south football, and the boy's and daughter's cross country and track & field teams beingness named the GNK Titans and the girl'southward hockey team being named the GRG Lightning. In some cases, however, combined able-bodied teams do non take a name that reflects the dual nature of the schools participating. For example, the boy's hockey squad allows students from Nashwauk-Keewatin Contained Schoolhouse District 319 and Deer River Contained School Commune 317 to participate on their team, however, the boy's hockey team is nevertheless referred to just equally the Greenway Raiders hockey team.
